
Märta Wallinius

Associate Professor in Forensic Psychiatry and Registered Psychologist
Märta is reg. psychologist and head of the research department at the Regional Forensic Psychiatric Clinic in Växjö. Märta is associate professor in Forensic Psychiatry at the Department of Clinical Sciences, Lund, Lund university.
Besides her work at the Regional Forensic Psychiatric Clinic in Växjö, Märta is also board member of the Centre for Ethics, Law and Mental Health (CELAM) at Gothenburg university, and president for the network for User involvement in involuntary psychiatric care (DIPS). Märta is affiliated as review editor for Frontiers in Psychiatry: Forensic Psychiatry.
Märta has vast clinical experience from work as clinical psychologist within forensic units and has combined clinical work with method development and research for persons with severe and persistent aggressive antisocial behaviors in combination with severe mental health comorbidity and social dysfunction.
Märta's research concerns risk and desistance factors for persistent aggressive antisocial behaviors, evidence-based practice in forensic settings, forensic neuroscience, and development and evaluation of assessment and treatment methods in forensic and psychiatric settings. Märta is PI for a national research program, FORevidence, focused on development of evidence-based practice in forensic psychiatry. Märta is also PI for five, larger research projects on forensic populations; MENT-FOR (Mental health care needs in forensic psychiatric patients), FORM (Evaluation of structured violence risk management in forensic psychiatry), FOR-VR (Psychological assessment and treatment using Virtual Reality in forensic psychiatry), Diagnostic stability in forensic psychiatric patients, and Neurofysiological correlates to disinhibition and externalizing behaviors in forensic psychiatric patients. Märta is also involved as researcher in other studies, e.g., the DAABS (Development of Aggressive Antisocial Behavior Study), FOR-WOMEN (Women in forensic psychiatric care), USEFOR (User involvement in forensic psychiatric care), and FOR-SATA (Treatment and assessment of substance abuse and related co-morbidity in forensic psychiatry).
