
Natalie Laporte

PhD-student and Behavioral Scientist
Natalie is a registered PhD Candidate at the Institution for Clinical Sciences in Lund, Faculty of Medicine at Lund University. She has been working within forensic psychiatry since 2010 and has worked with both high risk profile patients and with female patients with a severe self-harm behavior.
Natalie Laporte is a Behavioral Scientist employed at the Regional Forensic Psychiatric Clinic in Växjö, Sweden. Natalie is currently working on a study on self-directed aggression and aggression directed towards other people, a study that includes 100 patients within forensic psychiatry. Her upcoming articles will process deliberate self-harm behavior, suicide attempts, aggression, emotion regulation and disinhibition.
Natalies dissertation is primarily about mapping deliberate self-harm behavior and suicidal behavior among forensic psychiatric patients, but also about investigating psychosocial background factors, emotion regulation and disinhibited behaviors in this group of patients. Natalie is currently conducting a large data collection including 100 forensic psychiatric patients. The purpose of this study is to identify clinical, psychosocial and criminological factors and their possible association to self-harm behavior and suicidal behavior.
Moreover, during 2013 Natalie was an active member of The National Self-Injury Project. Today she is one of the managers for the project of improvements in healthcare at the Regional Forensic Psychiatric Clinic in Växjö. She is also head author for the clinics’ two care programs within substance abuse and suicide prevention. Natalie is also a member of the network Delaktighet I PSykiatrisk tvångsvård (DIPS).
